56th BP Fellowship Event - Austria
The Foundation's programme included a gala dinner for 250 people in the Liechtenstein Palace & Museum, hosted by Prince Hans-Adam II of Liechtenstein. His Majesty Carl XVI Gustaf was accompanied by Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden, who has long been involved in Scouting work to help young people with disabilities, as well as new projects to integrate ethnic minorities into Swedish society.
The gala dinner raised over US$ 1.5 million for investment in the Foundation. His Majesty welcomed 25 new members into the Baden-Powell Fellowship. He also thanked Fellows who are progressing in the Honours Programme, which recognizes higher levels of donations to the World Scout Foundation. Up to that time, 13 people had become members of the Regal Circle for having made contributions in excess of US$ 1 million.
Among the dinner guests were seven members of the Richard Burdick family, and seven members of the Howard Kilroy family. All 14 are members of the Fellowship.
His Majesty joined Austrian Scouts for a widely-reported press conference. He and other speakers praised the work being undertaken by Scouts in Austria, and he spoke about the values of Scouting to himself and to society.
