1 Billion Hours of Service
As you know, every single day is a remarkable day in World Scouting, as millions of Scouts everywhere go about doing their best to help others. However, the 25th June (yesterday), marked a particularly remarkable moment that is worthy of highlighting and celebrating.
Over the last 6 years, Scouts from all around the world have diligently logged their service hours for innovative service projects that they’ve dared to dream; that they’ve implemented and evaluated as part of Scouting’s flagship Messengers of Peace initiative.
That we’ve passed the incredible figure of 1 billion service hours having been logged some 2 years ahead of target, is testament to the scope of the Messengers of Peace initiative. It has captured the imaginations of Scouts everywhere around the world and provided the practical means for many innovative projects to be implemented – thereby helping others and contributed to creating a better world.
The Messengers of Peace initiative is made possible through the joint efforts of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques – the King of Saudi Arabia – and the Foundation’s Honorary Chairman – the King of Sweden. The success of the initiative has led to the establishment of a number of Donor Advised Funds from several BP Fellows within the Foundation, supporting Scouts all around the world and contributing to the success of the initiative.
