60th Board Meeting

Foundation News

The World Scout Bureau Global Support Centre in Kuala Lumpur hosted the Foundation's 60th Board Meeting and a Board Seminar on 19th & 20th November 2015.

It was the first time the Board of the Foundation with the Honorary Chairman visited the WSB Global Support Centre in Kuala Lumpur since its opening in June 2014. It is also the first time the WSF is holding its Board meeting at this Global Support Centre, giving the WSF Board the opportunity to engage with the WSB on WOSM’s global priorities towards Vision 2023.

During an all staff meet-and-greet the Honorary Chairman expressed his excitement about visiting the WSB Global Support Centre, saying: “I have heard so much about this office and I am glad to be here with you in Kuala Lumpur. It is such a vibrant city. I can feel good vibes in the air. Carry on with all the great work you are doing to create a better world."

The Board meeting also marked the end of the Chairmanship of Siegfried Weiser who, after 3 years, handed the Chairmanship over to Wayne Perry. We thank Siegfried for his commitment, leadership, energy and generosity during the past 3 years. As immediate past Chairman, Siegfried will assume responsibility for the Foundation's Regal Circle of the Honours Programme and the Messengers of Peace Initiative with regard to the donors to this Initiative.
At the same time we welcomed Wayne as new Chairman and we wish him a 'flying' start of his Chairmanship!

After the Board meeting Soo Keng Yeoh, our Malaysian Board Member, hosted together with her father the dinner on the occasion of the 60th Board Meeting at the splendid family residence in KL.

During the Board Seminar on 20th November the Board Members were informed about the results of the in-depth mid term (5 year) evaluation of the Messengers of Peace Initiative, heard about the success and challenges of the capacity building programme for NSOs, was briefed on what Scouts do with regard to the refugee crises in the Middle East and Europe and brainstormed with the senior staff of the World Scout Bureau Global Support Centre about the mid and longer term funding priorities for projects related to the WOSM Vision 2023.
