Danish Scouts donate USD 40,000!
37,000 Danish and international Scouts and Guides had the experience of a lifetime in Sønderborg, at Denmark's largest national Jamboree in 2017, but as usual, the story didn’t end there!
The impact of this event and generosity of its participants is still being felt in Brazil and in Myanmar, after the Danish Scouts donated over USD 40,000 to two fantastic Scout Messengers of Peace projects in these countries!
So where did the money come from? The Jamboree participants used a digital payment system via wristbands to make purchases for their patrols. After the Jamboree had ended, the organisers discovered that there was a fair amount of money remaining on the wristbands. The Scouts and Guides were offered the money back, but a great many chose to instead leave it to go to a good cause. So the five Associations, which together form the Danish Scouting Federation, decided to support other Scouts on the other side of the world to help their communities.
Thank you to everyone who contributed. What an incredible show of solidarity!
