Gustavo Vollmer was a real Scout. He was the Chairman of the Inter-American Scout Committee for 8 years, Member of the World Scout Committee on two occasions for 6 years each. He was Chairman of the World Scout Committee and moved the World Bureau from Ottawa to Geneva. He was a Founding Member of the World Scout Foundation, Chairman and Life Member. And Vice-President of the Venezuela Scouts Association at large. His dedication to Scouting and his leadership for the last 54 years was fundamental for the consolidation, expansion and financial support of the World Scout Movement. For his services to World Scouting he received the Bronze Wolf Award.
He was a charismatic leader and many other leaders in Scouting received his influence and supported him in his immense task, among those, four men were the essential supporter and teachers: Thomas Watson Jr., William D. Campbell, Laszlo Nagy, but the most important was Salvador Fernandez Bertran, his right hand for 24 years.
He came to serve the youth of the World and he really changed the world!
