His Majesty meets with Mexican business leaders
During the 2nd Honours Programme Event in Mexico (24-27 April 2013) His Majesty met with business leaders to widen the WSF network of global leaders.
During the Event 4 private meetings took place with four of the most influential Mexican businessmen. The topic of each meeting was to discuss "Youth Education and Leadership Development through Scouting". Each meeting had a different accent due to the specific interests of each of the invitees which resulted in four unique discussions and a strengthened support to Scouting globally as well as nationally!
His Majesty met the following four businessmen:
Mr Ricardo Salinas Pliego serves as President and CEO of Grupo Salinas and Grupo Elektra, two holdings with interests vested in telecommunications, media and retail stores. Mr. Salinas formed the nonprofit Fundación Azteca in 1997 to address a broad range of social problems with on going campaigns in healthcare and nutrition, education, and the protection of the environment.
Mr Miguel Aleman Velasco is a lawyer by education and has held several high offices in Mexico such as elected Senator of the State of Veracruz since 1991 and Governor of the State of Veracruz (1998-2004). The Miguel Aleman Foundation is a leading Foundation in Mexico in the field of economic, political, social and cultural development. Mr Aleman is the son of Mr Miguel Aleman Valdez who was President of Mexico from 1946 to 1952.
Mr Alejandro Ramirez Magana is the Owner and General Director of Cinepolis which was founded by his grandfather an by his father, Enrique Ramirez Villalón. Cinepolis is the 10th largest worldwide chain of cinemas. The Cinepolis Foundation contributes to the development of Mexico through programs of visual health, education through cinema and entertainment that has a special focus on the most vulnerable sectors of society.
Mr Olegario Vasquez Rana is the owner of several companies, and the chairman and principal shareholder of "Grupo Empresarial Angeles". In order to fulfill his social work within Mexico, Mr Vázquez Rana created “Fundación de apoyo Angeles” (Angels Support Foundation) which contributes to on going assistance programs in health and education as well as extramural surgeries, community clinics and vaccination programs for children and adults.
