HRH Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg receives Bronze Wolf Award
HRH Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg has been awarded the Bronze Wolf, World Scouting’s highest honour, in recognition of His extraordinary commitment and invaluable contributions to the Scout Movement.
HRH Prince Guillaume, a Baden-Powell Fellow, has served as a Board Member of the World Scout Foundation since 2017. As the Foundation’s Chair (September 2021–October 2023), He steered the Foundation through a significant period of change, including the development and adoption of a new strategy to boost funding for World Scouting. He has spearheaded efforts to increase institutional and individual fundraising and has leveraged committee coordination work, initiatives and events to champion the missions of both the Foundation and the World Organization of the Scout Movement for greater youth-led change, peace, and sustainable development.
Encouraged by His grandfather and His father to discover and protect nature, HRH Prince Guillaume has been a Scout since he was a child, joining the Movement as a Cub Scout at the age of eight. Early on, He participated in a humanitarian camp in Nepal where He worked on projects supporting reforestation and assisting disadvantaged communities, leaving him with unforgettable memories.
HRH Prince Guillaume has also been an active proponent of Scouting at the national level, serving as Chief Scout of Scouting in Luxembourg since October 2019 — a vital role that links the two national associations which make up Scouting in Luxembourg.
HRH Prince Guillaume cares deeply about creating more opportunities for young people to develop as active citizens, including through Scouting’s unique educational programme, and He is an active champion of the Foundation’s Strategy to increase our resources to strengthen the impact of Scouting worldwide.“ Mark Knippenberg, World Scout Foundation, CEO.
A prominent supporter of national and local Scout initiatives and events in Luxembourg, HRH Prince Guillaume has bolstered the image of Scouting and its actions in Luxembourg, not least during the COVID-19 pandemic where He supported Scout community outreach, including the delivery of essential items to isolated individuals. As a notable public figure, His Scouting engagements shine a spotlight on the impact of Scouting, both in Luxembourg and across the world.
Through his extraordinary dedication and leadership, HRH Prince Guillaume continues to make an indelible mark on the Scout Movement, making him a deserving recipient of the Bronze Wolf Award.
