Productive Meeting of Foundation Board in Luxembourg
The 74th Meeting of the World Scout Foundation Board took place in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg on 9 September, kindly hosted in the Grand Ducal Palace by our Foundation Chair, HRH The Crown Prince of Luxembourg.
Under the leadership of HRH Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg and our Honorary Chairman of 45 years, HM King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, the Board discussed progress against the 2022–2030 Strategy to drive increased fundraising for World Scouting and expand the Foundation’s network of passionate and generous donors through heightened engagement, building on the preceding meetings of its Fundraising Committees.
The Board received and discussed, at length, the report of the Investment Committee, which took place on 8 September, with the participation of representatives from JP Morgan, as well as the report of the Oversight Committee, which had also met on 8 September. The Board approved the 2023 Operational Budget; discussed the excellent progress with key institutional funding partners; warmly received the WOSM report on recent events, forthcoming plans for the Movement and the use of the WOSM Operational Grant 2021–2023; approved the revised System of Internal Control; received and discussed the report of the Nominations Committee; and gratefully received the report of the Young BP Fellows Task Force.
Meetings of the Board’s Fundraising Committees took place, with the participation of volunteer Board and Committee Members, on 7 September in the event hotel. Thee three Committees —Institutional, High-Value Donors and Global Network (Campaign Support, Chapter Support and Engagement Resources, coordinating with the Young BP Fellows Task Force) — first met separately, running hybrid meetings to allow for the participation of Committee members not present in Luxembourg.
The three Committees then came together at the Joint Fundraising Committee Meeting on 8 September to share progress and plans for the coming months and identify synergies and areas for cooperation across Committees.
This meeting also welcomed Dipl-Ing Dr.h.c Hans-Christian Habermann, long-standing supporter of World Scouting and valued BP Fellow and Honours Programme Member, to share his experience and history of support for Scouting, for rich inspiration at the start of the afternoon.
The Committees have been enriched with vital volunteer support from the BP Fellowship, World Scouting and beyond and speaking at the Board Meeting, HRH Prince Guillaume recognised the work of these volunteers, saying:
Let me thank all the members of the different Fundraising Committees, also those not present here, for the work done so far. It was inspiring to hear the report of the different Committees yesterday, and to see a structured approach to fundraising, which already starts to bear fruits.”
