Young BP Fellows at the International Conference on Scouting and the Environment

Young Baden-Powell Fellows joined World Scout Foundation (WSF) Chairman Lars Kolind and WSF staff last week in Riyadh at the International Conference on Scouting and the Environment, warmly hosted by the Saudi Arabia Scouts.

WSF Chairman Lars Kolind delivered a keynote speech highlighting the role of leadership in Scouting to develop pro-active, responsible citizens who then care for our environment, and also led an animated workshop on why Scouting is a good investment which was very well received. World Scout Committee member and Young BP Fellow Pia Melin Mortensen also gave a keynote speech on environmental education and the renewal of  the World Scout Environment Programme. Plenary inputs were also made by BP Fellows Thijs Stoffer and Dr Atif Abdelmageed Abdelrahman, along with a wide range of inputs from international and Saudi guests—Scouts and non-Scouts.

The event was a fantastic opportunity to learn both about different approaches to environmental protection and to also discover more about the young men and women of the Saudi Scouts who are working hard to push for greater environmental awareness and protection.
